World Cup

Quiet down, quiet down. I know for my three readers it’s been a while since I have last posted anything of value (of course one could argue that there isn’t much of value around here). Let’s just say I’ve been a little “preoccupied” with a certain world-known sport called Football. And I’m not talking about American Football (don’t get me wrong I’m definitely a fan). I’m talking about a little thing called Soccer. I have forgotten how much I like soccer. This past week has brought about many great memories of childhood soccer. One of my greatest memories is that of a superb team I played on called Top Gun. That’s right. I was probably seven or eight years old. We had these burnt yellow shirts we wore and every time we scored a goal our coach would give us a star to iron on our shirts (read: cheap jerseys). But it wasn’t the umpteen goals that I scored that season or the tremendous skill I acquired…no it was the end of season cake. That’s right cake. We had this elaborate cake made up that had a soccer ball and a fighter jet on it. At the time my two most favorite things in the world. Long past the days of my soccer career as new interest consumed my life (insert: obtaining rock star status), but I still have that burnt yellow shirt and if I think hard enough I can still see that wonderful cake in my minds eye. So here’s to the World Cup and soccer!
ps: Hey USA…let’s not suck against Italy!

did you see the us v. italy match??!!!
my how nice it was to see the us come out with some passion and fire and play with emotion. they caused quite the stir over there in europe. i’ve seen the wonderful sky sports news in london reporting on the match. i can’t see us going through, but what a game! exciting every minute!
tune in tomorrow for sure. you should see a determined brazil team wallup the socceroos and my main man thierry henry making up for a no-show performance with france in the last match of the day against south korea.

if the US team called itself Top Gun instead of that DreamTeam nonsense, i gaurantee you we would be kicking butt over there.
