Lift Line Love

Lift Line Love
Continuing on my topic of skiing I had a funny thing happen to me while I was up at Elk Mountain. It was towards the end of the day as the lift lines had finally shrunk down to a manageable size. I was just coming off a nice quick run when I skied up to the “singles” (for those that are not familiar with the lift line protocol, the “singles” line is for those skiers getting on with out a partner(s) so the lift line dictator can pair you up and not waste everyone’s time letting you take a chair by your lonesome) line. As I’m standing there, waiting for the lift line dictator to tell when I can and can not move, a young girl skis up next to me in the other “singles” lift line. The unusually nice lift line dictator walks over to us and asks the young girl her name. As soon as this happened I realized what was going on…he proceed to ask me what my name was. Then he repeated both of our names and loudly proclaimed that these two “singles” were getting a lift ride together. Of course not wanting to let such an opportunity pass I looked Mr lift line dictator in the eyes and boldly proclaimed “Yeah ummm I’m married” and I proceeded to ski past him to which he replied “gotta give me credit for trying”! My response was simple “ummm no”. Mind you the young girl was embarrassed and she was also sporting a fresh new pair of shiny braces. Hey at least I still look young…under all those skiing clothes.
