Flag Saving

Since I’m working out at AOL these days you may start to see more content posted on my site that is pushed from their articles. It’s just the way the cookie crumbles. Well the other day I came across a great piece of Americana. It happened before I was born, but I was struck by this great act of American pride. I don’t think there is enough of that these days. Our country is moving farther and farther apart. Respect for those that put their lives on the line is almost nonexistent. I think this is a great example of American History. Rick Monday was playing for the Chicago Cubs in center field when a father and son jumped out onto the field, dousing an American flag with lighter fluid. They tried to light the flag on fire, but Monday swooped in and carried the flag to safety in a wonderful act of respect for this country. Check out the article and Monday’s attitude some 30 years later.
