A Tribute to Trey

David Bruce Trey Schleiden, III

David Bruce “Trey” Schleiden, III (1991-2006) was killed on Monday November 20, 2006. A life too short for my second cousin. He was riding his skateboard when he was hit by a 19 year old driver.
Trey never had the easiest life, but he always had a smile about him. Even as a baby I can remember holding him knowing this was a special kid. I had the opportunity to talk to him two summers ago about his recent commitment to the Lord. He talked about how he was going to a great youth group and had just returned from a missions trip out west. So we have hope that Trey is in Heaven and frankly I’m a little jealous he gets to see Grandpa Schleiden first.
Trey was the middle of three kids from my Cousin David Jr. He leaves behind his older sister Amanda & younger brother Ryan. I loved to watch him and Ryan together as he always looked out for Ryan and at times practically raised him. He loved being with his little cousins and around family. I always cherished the times with Trey because they were always too short. Trey I’ll miss you buddy. We’ll see you soon.

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words.”

So I found your website while searching for information on Trey. Kind of weird.

I just can’t believe all of this. It is comforting to know he’s in a much better place and has grandpa to watch over him.

Wonderful tribute to Trey, Jeremy. He definitely will be missed but we know that he is in the presence of the Lord and has definitely left a great legacy. This past weekend at his funeral there were so many people that said what a great guy he was and how much he loved the Lord. His sweet smile will always be remembered and will be missed tremendously.

I went to elementary school with Trey. When I heard of his death I regretted not keeping in touch with him over the years. But he is in a much greater place with our God. I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ll be praying for you & your family.

i’m sooo sorry about your cousin. that’s horribly tragic and unfortunate. i’m really sorry you’ve had to go something that is undoubtedly difficult to deal with. you and your family will be in my prayers.
